Canadian company Can-Am plans to develop a revolutionary motorcycle design.  The two electric models, Pulse and Origin, are expected to hit the market as early as 2024, but that's not all.  The company is also working on a new motorcycle with an innovative hub-steered system.

In the future, Honda motorcycles could not only recognize when an accident has occurred, but also assess whether the rider needs help.  So far, some companies already offer emergency call systems that automatically alert emergency services in the event of a crash.  Honda is working to improve this process by having the system determine if the rider is still conscious.

Honda is using experience from the automotive industry to implement a lane keeping assistant for motorcycles, according to patent applications.

As reported back in September 2020, Aprilia is working on a leaning multiwheeler in the style of the Yamaha Niken. Now more patent drawings have surfaced showing some progress.

After radar systems are already used in several motorcycles, manufacturers are also working on an alternative or extension, a camera system. Kawasaki has already filed patents for this, and now patents from Honda have also appeared on the web.

More and more technology and assistance systems are finding their way into modern motorcycles. As patent applications reveal, BMW is also working on a lean angle assistant.

After several manufacturers have already released radar-based assistance systems, Yamaha now wants to follow suit. At least, that's what patent applications suggest.

Patent drawings indicate that Ducati wants to use the seamless transmission from MotoGP for a road bike.

Harley-Davidson is working on an automatic emergency braking system, according to published patent applications.

Electric motorcycles are widely viewed skeptically in the community. Disadvantages regarding long charging times and short range are hotly debated. Honda now wants to offer a concept that is not intended to replace current motorcycles at all, but to offer a lot of fun instead.

Many manufacturers have announced a radar system for various models. A radar-based cruise control system automatically adjusts the speed of the motorcycle to the current traffic situation. Now patent drawings of the radar system for the Africa Twin have surfaced.

A motorcycle equipped with drones? Sounds unrealistic and the meaning behind it doesn't make sense at first, but it's something Honda is working on, as patent applications reveal.

Currently, supercharged engines are still rare, but in the meantime patent drawings are appearing from more and more manufacturers showing that they are working on turbocharged or supercharged engines. -Now Harley-Davidson, too.

Until now, motorcycle driving simulators were usually only found in arcades, so the reality content was usually not very high. Driving simulator specialist Vi-Grade could change that in the future, at least they have filed a patent to that effect.
