More and more technology and assistance systems are finding their way into modern motorcycles. As patent applications reveal, BMW is also working on a lean angle assistant.

The system is designed to help the rider drive at the optimum lean angle for the situation. To do this, the system can intervene in engine power and brake control to correct the lean angle should an accident be imminent.

One of the bases for the calculation is to be two gyroscopes, each installed at the front and rear.

It would be possible to reduce the power of the engine, to apply the brakes slightly, or to use an automatic clutch to adjust the torque. The idea is to trigger a steering impulse that corrects the lean angle.

But it should also work the other way as well. The system should also be able to increase the lean angle. Exactly how this works, however, has not yet been revealed.
