As has now been announced, Maverick Vinales will compete for the Yamaha factory team in MotoGP for two more years. He is the first factory driver, who is already for 2021/2022 under contract.
It was important for Vinales to finalize the new contract before the start of the season, so that he can concentrate then fully on the races. He will be able to keep his current team until 2022, which was also very important to him.
In his previous three years in MotoGP, he reached a fourth and two third places in the overall standings. Six times he was at the top of the podium. Now he wants to get the world title.
It is still unclear whether he will continue to have Rossi as a teammate.
