Herbertson takes over from Mike Browne
Herbertson, who replaces Mike Browne, will compete on the BMW M 1000 RR in the RST Superbike, RL360 Superstock and Milwaukee Senior TT races. He will also ride a Yamaha YZF-R6 in the two Monster Energy Supersport races. The team has also confirmed that it will take part in the two Carole Nash Supertwin races.
A break from tradition
Led by former TT racer John Burrows, the decision to sign Herbertson marks a departure from the team’s previous tradition of nurturing young riders in the early stages of their road racing careers. Riders such as Dan Kneen, Jamie Hamilton, Malachi Mitchell-Thomas, Davey Todd and Browne have all been successfully nurtured under the guidance of Burrows.
John Burrows on the new direction
John Burrows commented on the team’s new direction: “After Mike’s departure, all options were open. We are known for introducing young riders to road racing. But now was the right time to try something new. In Dom, we have an experienced rider with proven ability who we want to support in order to move even further forward.”
Herbertson’s impressive TT career
Herbertson, who made his TT debut in 2014, has now achieved twelve top 10 finishes, including nine in the last two years. His best result was seventh place in last year’s Supertwin race.
Dominic Herbertson on the new challenge
Herbertson is looking forward to the new challenge: “When John called me, I initially thought he needed someone to do pruning work. I’m excited to be part of one of the most competitive teams in road racing.”
Importance of an experienced driver for the team
The inclusion of an experienced rider like Herbertson is of great importance to the team, especially with regard to the TT. “We expect to be seeded in every class, which is very important at the TT for qualifying week,” explains Burrows.
Preparing for the 2024 season
Following pre-season testing in Spain, Herbertson will take part in the first round of the British Supersport Championship in April. The team also plans to take part in the North West 200 to prepare for the TT, followed by the Southern 100 Races and selected Irish national road races.
