Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the 2021 Turkish Superbike World Champion and previous Yamaha success rider, is preparing for a bold new career move: a switch to BMW in 2024.

Farewell to Yamaha

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the 2021 World Superbike Champion, will end his successful four-year association with the Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK Team at the end of the 2023 season.  The Turkish rider, who proved his potential on two wheels at a young age, is looking for a new challenge for 2024.

Razgatlıoğlu began his career with Yamaha with an impressive victory on his debut at Phillip Island in 2020, and over the years he has established himself as one of the most successful riders in Yamaha’s WorldSBK history, with a total of 30 victories, surpassing the previous record held by Noriyuki Haga.

A champion on the fast track

The 2021 season witnessed one of the greatest title battles in WorldSBK history, with Razgatlıoğlu battling Jonathan Rea for the world championship crown. Ultimately, the Turkish rider triumphed, securing Yamaha’s first title in the class since Ben Spies in 2009.

In the 2022 season, Razgatlıoğlu was again involved in a fierce championship battle with Rea and Ducati’s Alvaro Bautista.  Although he narrowly missed out on the title, he finished the season with more wins (14) than the previous year and four pole positions.

A new chapter at BMW

Starting in the 2024 season, Razgatlıoğlu will open a new chapter in his career by joining the BMW Motorrad Motorsport family in the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK).  The 26-year-old will compete on the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team’s BMW M 1000 RR.

Razgatlıoğlu, who has been racing in WorldSBK since 2018, has scored 33 victories and a total of 93 podium finishes in 168 WorldSBK races so far in his career.  His greatest success was undoubtedly winning the World Superbike Championship in the 2021 season.

BMW Motorrad is delighted to welcome Razgatlıoğlu to their WorldSBK factory rider squad next season.  Marc Bongers, Director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, is convinced that Razgatlıoğlu will settle into the BMW Motorrad Motorsport family very quickly and is looking forward to working together and sharing the future.
