“Kando” was the motto for the new XSR125 Legacy. Yamaha wanted to create something satisfying that inspires the heart and mind.

The basis of the Legacy is the XSR125, which was introduced last year. Chassis geometry and engine were carried over. To achieve a distinctive neo-retro look, many stylistic revisions were made.

Equipment and changes

The Yamaha XSR125 Legacy is equipped with lightweight spoked wheels, reminiscent of the design of the first racing motorcycles of the 60s and 70s. The rims have been given a golden design and covered with “Karoo” tires from Metzeler. The block tread is intended to further enhance the retro look.

The graphics were adapted for the Legacy and complemented with gold and silver pinstripes. The tank, side panels and fenders were painted in Historic Black. Black is the delta box frame, swingarm, 37mm USD fork and engine side cover.

The two-piece aluminum muffler cover is meant to emphasize a sporty orientation.  It is given a seat height of 815 mm and a wheelbase of 1,330 mm. LED technology is used for the lighting.

The engine

The 125cc engine is identical in construction to the engines of the MT-125 and R125. It produces 15 PS (11kW), which is the maximum power for the A1 or B196 driving license class. The variable valve timing provides powerful torque even in the lower rpm range, but also high power in the upper rpm range.

Colors, availability and price

The Yamaha XSR125 Legacy will be available in Historic Black from June 2022 for an MSRP of €5,449 (including ancillary costs).
