Honda has presented the new CB750 Hornet at the Intermot.  In the future, it will be powered by a modern 755cc parallel twin cylinder.

Engine and chassis

The new Hornet will produce 92 PS or 67.5 kW at 9,500 rpm.  Maximum torque is stated at 75 Nm.  Unicam cylinder heads, four-valve technology and patented downdraught air intakes have been installed to provide impressive pull throughout the rev band.  The crankshaft has 270° cranking and an uneven firing order, which should result in a friendly pulsating running quality.  4.3 liters of fuel are consumed per 100 km.

The engine has been transplanted into a new and lighter bridge tubular steel frame.  At the front, a 41mm Showa Separate Function Fork Big Piston Upside Down fork dampens.  The swingarm features a pro-link lever reversing system.

Braking is at the front with dual disc brakes and radially mounted four-piston calipers.

The Hornet is said to offer exhilarating riding fun, thanks in part to its class-leading power-to-weight ratio.  When fully fueled, 190 kg is specified.  Honda describes the machine as fast, agile and thrilling.  This is also to support the upright seating position, the wide handlebars and the tires in the sizes 120/70 ZR17 front and 160/60 ZR17 rear.

Equipment

It is equipped with modern electronics.  Driving modes include Standard, Sport, Rain and a configurable mode.  The 5-inch TFT color display offers connectivity for voice-controlled use of telephony, mails, music and navigation.

Lighting uses LED technology all around, the turn signals are self-resetting and the brake light has an emergency brake signal function.

The Design

The design was created by the European R&D office in Rome in the Streetfighter style, which was also responsible for the design of the Africa Twin, the X-ADV or the Neo Sports Cafe model rich.  The tank was inspired by the shape of a hornet’s wing.

Optional accessories and colors

Optionally, Honda offers other original accessories, including shift assist, luggage solutions, protective protectors and cosmetic accessories.  The new Honda Hornet is offered in four color options: Pearl Glare White or Graphite Black (both with metallic red painted frame tubes plus red anodized fork stanchions); plus Matte Iridium Gray Metallic and Mat Goldfinch Yellow shades.
