After the insolvency of Norton Motorcycles and its takeover by TVS, there is now a new sign of life. Several new naming rights have been filed, indicating Norton’s future plans.
Now in October, several trademark applications have been filed with the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office. These are names from Norton’s history, which also indicate its future.
Electra, Fastback, Navigator, Nomad and Ranger have been filed. All names already known from the 1950s to the 70s. As the registrations were in the subject area “vehicles; apparatus for locomotion by land; motorbikes; mopeds; scooters; mobility scooters / motor scooters; parts and fittings for motorbikes and vehicles”, one can be sure that the brand names will be used for new motorbikes.
Which motorbikes are planned and when they will come is still completely open. But it is interesting to see what Norton’s future plans look like under the leadership of TVS. It seems that the focus is not only on the big brand name and the existing models. It seems that they also want to launch a whole range of new models that will also get big names.
