When you think of boxer engines, the name BMW almost automatically springs to mind. But although the Munich-based company shaped the engine type, the boxer was never exclusively theirs. As early as the First World War, British brands such as ABC and Douglas attracted attention with transversely mounted two-cylinder engines. BMW set its own standards with the R32 in 1923 - and thus shaped today's image of the longitudinally mounted boxer. Imitations such as the Ural and Dnepr from the former Soviet Union or the Chinese Chang Jiang CJ750 followed. Even Harley-Davidson experimented with the XA during the Second World War.
The cruiser world has changed a lot in recent years. Instead of huge, loud V2 bikes, more and more manufacturers are focusing on smaller, more practical and more accessible models. In addition to machines such as the Honda Rebel and the Kawasaki Eliminator, Benda is now also launching a new model on the market: the Napoleonbob 500. But can this Chinese bobber variant hold its own in a competitive segment?
Already a year ago there were rumors that Benda wants to bring a VTR 300 Turbo on the market. The bike is supposed to be powered by a 300cc twin-cylinder that will be turbocharged.
The Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Benda was already able to surprise with the visually successful power cruiser LFC 700, which is equipped with a fat 310 rear tire. Now they are following up with their own V4 engines.
The Chinese Benda Motor Group, which until now mainly built smaller motorcycles, cargo tricycles or 50cc scooters, presented their upcoming power cruiser at CIMA.
According to media reports, Benda will also offer the BD300 Sporty cruiser for sale in Italy. The price is said to be 5,450 euros.
For a long time, the Chinese concentrated on smaller cubic capacity. In the meantime, larger motors are also being manufactured, e.g. the 1200cc Triple from Benelli or the 1250cc V-Twin from CF-Moto. Now a new 750cc four-cylinder is to come.
