Benelli, the Italian manufacturer, which now belongs to the Chinese group Qianjiang, has presented two naked bikes in retro style, Leoncino 800 and Leoncino 800 Trail.
Benelli Leoncino 800
The Leoncino uses a tubular frame with steel plates and a traditionally shaped 15 litre tank. The Leoncino branding is applied to the side plate and the Benelli lion is found on the front wing. For the lighting Benelli uses LED technology, which also saves weight. At the front, an oval shape was chosen for the headlamp.
Propulsion is provided by a liquid-cooled 754cc parallel twin, which delivers 76.2 PS at 9,000 rpm and almost 68 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Power is transmitted via a six-speed gearbox and supported by an Assist & Slipper Clutch.
Braking is achieved with Brembo components. Two 320mm discs and radial four-piston monobloc brake callipers were mounted on the front. The 50mm Marzocchi upside-down fork is fully adjustable and has a 130mm travel. The mono shock absorber is mounted on the swingarm and the spring preload is adjustable. In the front a 120mm and in the back a 180mm tyre is mounted on the 17 inch spoke wheels.
Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail
The Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail was additionally designed for excursions on non-asphalted roads. The exhaust is still on top, protective grilles are mounted and a start number plate can be found. The wheels have been upgraded to 19″, the suspension travel has been increased and the seat height has also been raised.
Market introduction and price
Both models meet the Euro5 standards. Nothing has yet been revealed about the price. They are expected to go on sale in spring 2021, but it has not yet been said on which markets they will appear.
