For April 3, 2020, BMW plans to present its new cruiser, in which the new 1802 boxer engine will be used. Now the first data has been leaked.
Engine data already known
The engine data itself was officially confirmed some time ago. The air / oil-cooled 1.8 liter two-cylinder engine delivers 90 hp (67 kW) at 4750 rpm and 158 Nm at 3,000 rpm. At speeds between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm there are permanently over 150 Nm. The red area begins at 5,750 rpm.
Two models appear at the start
So far one could see two different versions of the upcoming R18. The BMW R18 Concept becomes R18. There will also be a partially fairing Bagger-style version, that will appear under the name BMW R18 Classic.
Both models are equipped with identical engine specifications, only the exhaust system differs. However, this does not affect the emission values, there is only a minimal difference in volume. The R18 will generate a volume of 75 dB in the pass test and reach a peak value of 95 dB. The values for the R18 Classic are 76 and 99 dB.
Further data
Both versions have a length of 2,440 mm. The R18 weighs 345 kg ready to drive. With the R18 Classic, the fairing, the additional cases, the larger tank and the additional instruments naturally have an impact on the weight. The Classic will weigh 20 kg more (365 kg).
Although the two models are equipped with different handlebars, the vehicle width is identical. 949 mm are given here.
The top speed should be limited to around 180 km/h.
The data comes from a leak and has not yet been confirmed by BMW. We will find out more at the official presentation on April 3, 2020.
