Limited Performance Edition: What makes the RX special?

The new Speed Triple 1200 RX is technically based on the well-known Speed Triple 1200 RS, but is significantly sportier, more precise and more exclusive.  One of the most striking innovations is the semi-active suspension from Öhlins with Smart EC3 technology.  Both the NIX 30 front fork and the TTX36 rear suspension strut work with the modern “Spool Valve” technology.  The system is supplemented by an electronic steering damper from Öhlins (SD EC).

It is controlled via the Öhlins Objective Based Tuning Interface (OBTi) directly on the TFT display.  Here, damping and suspension can be individually and dynamically adjusted – for optimum performance on country roads and race tracks.

Sportier ergonomics and elegant details

The ergonomics of the RX have been sharpened for an even more direct riding experience: the handlebar ends are 69 mm lower and 52 mm further forward than on the RS model, the footrests have been raised by 14.5 mm and moved 25.5 mm further back.  This moves the rider further forward into a decidedly sporty riding position.

Another highlight is the standard Akrapovič silencer with titanium cover, carbon end cap and laser-engraved logo.  The RX also sets accents in terms of design: many bodywork elements are made of carbon, the color design in “TRIUMPH Performance Yellow” and “Granite” with white RX details and a yellow stripe on the rear wheel emphasize the exclusive character.

Three-cylinder power with 183 hp

The Speed Triple 1200 RX is powered by the familiar, further developed 1,160 cc in-line three-cylinder engine with 183 hp (134.6 kW) at 10,750 rpm and a torque of 128 Nm at 8,750 rpm.  This means that the power output is 3 hp and the torque 3 Nm higher than the previous model – with even better smooth running thanks to the revised crankshaft.

Power is transmitted via a 6-speed gearbox with anti-hopping clutch and TRIUMPH Shift Assist for clutch-free gear changes in both directions.

Technology package for demanding riders

In addition to the chassis components, the RX impresses with an extensive electronics package:

  • 5 riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport, Track and Rider (individually configurable)
  • Optimized cornering ABS
  • Optimized cornering traction control (can be switched off)
  • Engine brake control
  • Brake slide assist
  • Individually adjustable wheelie control (4 levels)
  • Cruise control
  • Emergency brake warning function
  • My TRIUMPH Connectivity System with navigation, music and telephone control

All systems can be operated intuitively via the 5-inch TFT color display and the illuminated 5-way joystick on the handlebars.

Weight and dimensions

Despite the extensive technology package, the RX remains one of the lightest motorcycles in its class with a ready-to-ride weight of 199 kg (equivalent to 438 lbs).  Among other things, a lithium-ion battery contributes to this.  The wheelbase is 1,445 mm, the seat height is 830 mm and the tank holds 15.5 liters.

High-quality brake and tire technology

The braking system comes from Brembo: two 320 mm brake discs with Stylema monobloc radial callipers and an adjustable MCS brake lever work at the front.  At the rear, a 220 mm stopper with double-piston calliper decelerates.

The RX is fitted ex works with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires – street-legal, but with clear racetrack DNA.

Price and availability

The TRIUMPH Speed Triple 1200 RX will be available from dealers from the end of May 2025.  The price in Germany is €21,695 (approx. $23,600) and in Austria €25,595 (approx. $27,800), both including a four-year manufacturer’s warranty.  In Germany, dealer-specific additional costs will be added.

Conclusion

With the Speed Triple 1200 RX, TRIUMPH is launching a focused, active and high-quality equipped special edition on the market.  Exclusive components, high-end technology and a limited status make the RX a potential collector’s item – and a real trackday tool with road approval.
