A partnership had been planned for over two years, and on January 24, 2020, it now became official. They want to attack together in the 200–750cc segment.
It is a long-term cooperation that is not capital-based. The two companies want to develop motorcycles from 200-750cc together. They want to serve as many market segments as possible in order to be as attractive for buyers.
Bajaj will take over the distribution of Triumph in India. In other overseas markets where Triumph is not yet represented, Bajaj will sell the common but also all Triumph models.
The common motorcycles will in future be sold in the entire Triumph dealer network.
Nick Bloor, CEO of TRIUMPH Motorcycles: “This is an important partnership for TRIUMPH and I am pleased that it is now official. The motorcycles that will emerge from this not only open up new markets for us, but also a younger, but nevertheless demanding customer base. The new bikes are another step in our global expansion. In particular, we are concerned with the rapidly growing markets of Southeast Asia, but also with Europe. ”
Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto India: “TRIUMPH is a globally known brand with a great tradition. We are therefore confident that there will be a lot of support for these new motorcycles in India and other emerging countries. We look forward to working with such a famous motorcycle company and mutually leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise to make the partnership a success for all of us. ”
