Damon Hypersport is said to be one of the most impressive electric motorcycles ever presented at the Consumer Electronics Show. It has already been awarded the CES 2020 Innovation Award.
The electric motorcycle is equipped with a unique safety system. The riding position setting can also be changed, making it one of the most versatile motorcycles on the market.
The performance data given are 200 hp and 200 Nm. One charge should last for 200 miles. That would be equivalent to 202.77 hp and a range of almost 322 km. The Hypersport should accelerate from 0 to 60 miles (almost 100 km / h) in just under three seconds.
The data are impressive, but still have to be confirmed in practice. Specifying 200 in the areas of hp, Nm and range sounds more like the goal one are working towards during development and not like real data.
With a level 2 charger it should be charged in less than three hours.
Two different versions of the Hypersport will be launched, the HS and the Premier. The Premier is equipped with higher quality components such as carbon swingarm, Brembo brakes and Öhlins suspension. It will be limited to only 25 pieces.
The “Shift rider ergonomics system” and the advanced warning system “CoPilot” are also impressive.
With SRES, the handlebars, footrests, seat and windshield can be brought into a sporty position at one push of a button. This turns the motorcycle from a city runabout to a super sports bike. This should have two motorcycles in one.
Also of interest is the CoPilot system, which monitors what is going on around the motorcycle. Damon teamed up with BlackBerry QNX for this. The technology is based on technology already used in the automotive industry. Damon and BlackBerry QNX are working on adapting the software for the motorcycle and making it usable.
The software is connected to several cameras that monitor the surroundings of the motorcycle. For example, the blind spot monitors, mach can show the image of a 120 degree rear view camera on the display or you get a warning as soon as the vehicle slows down in front of you.
The system warns you visually by a display and physically by vibrating the handlebar.
The standard version of Damon Hypersport is said to cost $ 24,995 (RRP). If the promises can be kept, that would be a really good price.
Both models can now be pre-ordered, delivery is planned for mid-2021.
