After the presentation of the new MT-10 for 2022, Yamaha follows up with an SP version, which aims to impress above all with a high-quality chassis.
Semi-active suspension from Öhlins
As in the R1M, the MT-10 SP uses a semi-active suspension from Öhlins, but not the same system. A newer generation is installed in the MT-10 SP, which uses a new damping technology. This provides even more adjustment options.
Three preset and three manual damping levels are available. In the automatic modes, the system adjusts the rebound and compression damping to the current driving conditions and continuously readjusts.
In manual mode, the driver sets the rebound and compression damping electronically. There is apparently no readjustment, which allows the suspension elements to be precisely tuned to the driving style or track.
Semi-active damping levels
- A-1 is a sporty mode. It delivers a lot of confidence and good feedback, especially on twisty roads and back roads, with a high degree of front and rear wheel feel, as well as good chassis stability under acceleration and braking.
- A-2: Ideal for sporty riding on well-maintained roads.
- A-3: The mode for touring with the emphasis on riding comfort and stability.
Other features of the Yamaha MT-10 SP
The MT-10 SP is equipped with an exclusive three-piece nose spoiler to accentuate the aggressive look and protect the oil cooler. For the brake lines, braided steel was installed, which leads to a better and more constant pressure point of the brake. Especially with frequent and heavy braking on the race track, this is a real safety gain.
With the color one oriented oneself with the R1M. Called the exclusive color scheme “Icon Performance”.
A wide range of original accessories, e.g. Akrapović exhausts, brake levers, grip heaters and billet handlebar ends will be offered as options.
Delivery is scheduled for mid-2022, with the price to be announced shortly.
