Yamaha launches its new top-of-the-line adventure motorcycle for long-distance riding: the all-new Ténéré 700 World Rally.  This new model is deeply rooted in the history of motorsport competition.

The roots in racing

The beginning of this extraordinary history lies in 1979, when Yamaha won the infamous Dakar Rally for the first time.  Spurred on by this success and the growing interest in endurance rallies, Yamaha decided to develop a motorcycle that would leave a lasting mark on the two-wheeled landscape.

In 1983, the first model of the Ténéré series saw the light of day.  To this day, it is considered one of the most defining and iconic motorcycles of the 20th century in this field.  With a voluminous fuel tank, stable chassis and a high-torque engine, the first Yamaha Ténéré enabled adventure-seekers worldwide to explore new frontiers and discover distant territories.

The Yamaha team’s participations in the annual Dakar Rally were crowned by incredible achievements, including those of Jean Claude Olivier, CEO of Yamaha Motor France, and desert legend Stéphane Peterhansel, who triumphed six times with Yamaha to take a permanent place in the motorsport history books.  To pay tribute to these motorcycles and their courageous riders, Yamaha now presents a special version of the Ténéré designed to combine authentic racing heritage with modern performance.

Ténéré 700 World Rally – The noble version among the desert fighters

The Ténéré 700 World Rally is the most noble model in Yamaha’s 2023 Adventure lineup, celebrating Yamaha’s rally successes over the past 40 years with iconic factory racing colors inspired by Stéphane Peterhansel’s 1993 Dakar competition bike.

The Ténéré 700 World Rally’s desert race-ready equipment includes a premium KYB upside-down fork with generous suspension travel, two side-positioned fuel tanks with a total capacity of 23 liters, an Akrapovič titanium muffler and a special low-profile, two-piece seat.  Furthermore, it features a five-inch color TFT display with smartphone connectivity, three-stage ABS and an adjustable Öhlins steering damper.

Yamaha rally racing colors

The Ténéré 700 World Rally comes in new colors: Blue, Neon Pink and Silver.  This color scheme is based on the design of Stéphane Peterhansel’s 1993 factory bike and pays tribute to Yamaha’s Dakar history and all the factory riders who have competed in the world’s toughest rally.  Yamaha riders Alessandro Botturi and Pol Tarrés will also wear these colors in their 2023 race entries, pushing their factory Ténéré bikes to the limits.

Ultra-lightweight Akrapovič slip-on silencer

The new top-of-the-line Adventure bike is loaded with premium components through and through.  The exclusive Akrapovič slip-on muffler highlights the high torque character and unmistakable sound of the CP2 twin-cylinder engine with 270° crankshaft, emphasizing the top equipment of this exclusive motorcycle.

Two side-mounted fuel tanks with a total capacity of 23 liters.

The winning Yamaha Dakar motorcycles pioneered the use of long-distance fuel tanks.  The Ténéré 700 World Rally is also equipped with state-of-the-art side-mounted fuel tanks that offer a combined capacity of 23 liters.  They provide the long range needed for long-distance rides.

The tanks are designed to store the majority of the fuel as low as possible, which keeps the vehicle’s center of gravity as central as possible for agile handling.  In addition, the tanks are designed to be flatter at the top than on the standard Ténéré to improve rider agility.

Premium 43 mm KYB upside-down fork with 230 mm of suspension travel.

The Ténéré 700 World Rally’s premium suspension is designed to provide excellent handling for long off-road rides.  The black 43 mm KYB upside-down fork is fully adjustable for spring preload and compression and rebound damping.  This allows the rider to optimally adapt it to different loads, terrain conditions and speeds.  With its 230 mm of suspension travel, the World Rally is also equipped for the toughest off-road terrain.

Aluminum shock absorber with compensating reservoir and 220 mm suspension travel.

The rear suspension is optimally matched to the high-quality front suspension.  The fully adjustable shock absorber is equipped with a compensation reservoir that ensures uniform damping behavior.  With a special baffle and a large stop damper, the World Rally shock offers 220 mm of travel.

Adjustable Öhlins steering damper

The lightweight, adjustable Öhlins steering damper offers a total of 18 different settings for added confidence and control when the going gets tough.  It allows the driver to get the most out of the premium suspension.

Flat contoured, two-piece rally-style seat

The flat contoured, rally-style seat with its two-piece design allows the rider to mount a rack or carry luggage when the rear section is removed.  The flat profile allows the rider good range of motion and effortless weight transfer to the front and rear.  At the same time, the seat’s black and gray material provides a firm yet comfortable ride.  Additional exclusivity is added to the seat by the World Rally logo.

5-inch color TFT display with mobile device connectivity and three display screens.

Riders of the Ténéré 700 World Rally have a choice of three switchable display screens – digital, analog or roadbook-style.  The 5-inch color TFT display offers connectivity and can be connected to a smartphone with the free MyRide app installed.  This allows text messages and incoming call notifications to be shown on the display.

ABS with three selectable modes

The World Rally’s ABS can be set in three modes, giving the driver full flexibility in adapting to the surface.  In mode 1, ABS is activated on both wheels.  In Mode 2, ABS is active on the front wheel and deactivated on the rear wheel, providing additional control on loose gravel roads.  In Mode 3, ABS is completely deactivated, giving the rider ultimate control when fully off-road.
