Will Pol Espargaro change from KTM to Honda in 2021? – MotoGP

At the moment there are increasing reports that Pol Espargaro will get the place in the Honda factory team next to Marc Marquez next year.

That would mean that Alex Marquez would left the team, even though he hadn’t a single race with the HRC Honda.
It is said that Espargaro has already been verbally promised a two-year contract. The fact is that Espargaro’s contract with KTM and Alex Marquez’s contract with Honda would expire this year or expire without an extension.
Some time ago, world champion Marc Marquez also advocated freezing the teams in this crazy season, so that there will be no changes for 2021 and they can drive a complete season in this constellation. Here one could interpret a protection for his brother, considering the current rumor.

Alberto Puig, Team Manager at Repsol Honda, however, denies a signed contract (which has never been mentioned before): “HRC is always thinking about the present and the future of its structure, from the lower categories to MotoGP.

Due to the circumstances that we are in, this season is not developing through the usual channels, but that does not mean that Honda stops continuing to plan the best possible future for all their riders. We do not have any contracts signed with anyone that have not already been announced.”
