The Triumph Thruxton, a café racer popular since 1964, is bidding farewell after 60 years with the special edition "Thruxton Final Edition".  This model, adorned in Competition Green with gold detailing, combines impressive technical features and aesthetics while honoring the model's rich racing history.

An end to an era: the Thruxton Final Edition

Since its introduction in 1964, the Triumph Thruxton has established itself as a popular café racer motorcycle.  Now, 60 years later, it is bidding farewell with a final production run in 2024.  To cap it off, Triumph presents the Thruxton Final Edition – a motorcycle that aims to set the standard in terms of specification, performance and style.

This special edition is based on the Thruxton RS model and represents the culmination of years of Thruxton development.  It features an exclusive Competition Green color scheme, adorned with hand-painted gold lines and the artist’s signature, honoring the Thruxton’s rich racing history.

What makes the Thruxton Final Edition so special?

Each Thruxton Final Edition comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the bike’s unique VIN number.  Signed by the Thruxton 1200 design team and Triumph’s CEO Nick Bloor, each owner also receives a special “Final Edition” engine badge with gold trim.

Technical Highlights

  • The 1200cc, high power Bonneville engine has an output of 105 PS (104 hp, 78 kW) and 112 Nm of torque.
  • High quality Showa USD “Big Piston” fork and Öhlins Twin rear suspension provides agility, control and feedback to the rider.
  • 17-inch 32-spoke aluminum wheels fitted with Metzeler Racetec RR tires ensure excellent grip.
  • Brembo M50 radial monobloc calipers deliver race-ready stopping power with added ABS for the street.
  • Three riding modes, LED lighting and a USB charging port round out the extensive features.

Exclusive features

The Thruxton Final Edition stands out with its café racer aesthetic.  The Competition Green metallic color scheme honors the Thruxton’s British racing heritage, complemented by hand-painted gold details and the classic Triumph logo.

It is complemented by contrasting black side panels and mudguards.

Performance, handling and features

The Thruxton Final Edition features the most powerful 1200cc Bonneville engine tuned specifically for the Thruxton, delivering 105 PS at 7,500 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm.

The Thruxton’s handling is renowned for its intuition and performance.  Thanks to high-quality components such as the adjustable Showa “Big Piston” fork and the fully adjustable Öhlins Twin rear suspension, it offers an optimal balance between comfort and outstanding road handling.

Of course, the twin floating 320mm Brembo discs and Brembo master cylinder contribute, as does the adjustable traction control.

The LED daytime running light headlight design gives the Thruxton a modern feel, though there could be changes here depending on the market.

Other features include an under-seat USB port and immobilizer.

Accessories for the Final Edition

Triumph also offers more than 80 original accessories for the Thruxton, including a special cockpit fairing set that matches the Competition Green color scheme of the Final Edition.

A comment from Triumph

Commenting on the Final Edition, Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer of Triumph Motorcycles, said, “The Thruxton has a special place in the hearts of many motorcyclists, and we are all immensely proud of this Final Edition, which captures the essence of the British café racer scene. The Thruxton will bow out of production at the very pinnacle of its development with a special edition that secures its place in the history books of Triumph Motorcycles.”

The Thruxton Final Edition will retail for £15,095 (approx. €17,945, approx. $17,995 USD) and will be available from Triumph dealers from spring 2024.

A look back at the ultimate café racer

The Thruxton looks back on an impressive history: from its beginnings in the 1960s to its rebirth in 2016 with the 1200cc Thruxton R model to the latest Thruxton RS – this motorcycle has constantly evolved and the Final Edition marks the end of its impressive development history.
