Suzuki India has reason to celebrate. The 5 millionth motorcycle was built there in June 2020.
The number could surprise many motorcyclists, as Suzuki has become rather quiet on the European or American market. Almost all current models of the brand are only minor updates. Complete new developments are in short supply, but this does not mean that the bikes are outdated.
The reason why the 5 millionth Suzuki could now be built in India is the extremely large market there. Motorcycles are used very differently in India than in Europe or America. They are a daily means of transportation there. Suzuki also has a strong presence on the subcontinent with 530 dealers in 279 cities.
The motorcycles sold there differ from the models of the western countries. There are also models such as the BS6-compliant (applicable emission regulations) V-Strom 650, but mostly small-volume motorcycles such as Gixxer 250 or 150 are sold.
