More Information

Engine performance and handling

The Stark Varg SM is available in two performance variants. The standard model delivers 44 kW (60 hp) with a maximum torque of 914 Nm at the rear wheel. The Alpha version achieves a peak output of 60 kW (80 hp) – both without a gearbox and with only one gear. The maximum torque significantly exceeds the values of comparable combustion engines. Depending on the driving mode, the peak power is delivered directly and without delay.

The engine brake and recuperation can be adjusted individually. Propulsion is provided by a permanent magnet AC motor, which is housed in a carbon casing and functions as a compact unit together with the inverter. Power is transmitted directly to the rear wheel.

Battery, charging times, and range

At the heart of the vehicle is a 7.2 kWh battery in a magnesium housing, which serves as a load-bearing element in the chassis, thereby increasing the rigidity of the frame. The charging system has a 3.3 kW charger that can be used with standard household sockets or AC car chargers. The charging time is specified as less than two hours.

The range varies depending on driving style and mode. According to the WMTC, the realistic range is around 81 km (50 miles), while up to 180 km is possible in pure city traffic. The battery is therefore sufficiently dimensioned for everyday use, but for sporty applications such as on kart tracks or circuits, intermediate charging may be recommended.

Chassis, suspension, and brakes

The Varg SM features a sturdy steel tube frame with a forged aluminum rear end and an aluminum swing arm. The fully adjustable suspension from KYB (Kayaba) includes a 48 mm upside-down fork with 290 mm of travel and a central shock absorber with 303 mm of travel at the rear. The sporty seat height is 935 mm.

The manufacturer specifies a weight of 124.5 kg (274.4 lbs) – a figure that makes the Varg SM one of the lightest models in its class. For added everyday practicality, the Supermoto has a reverse gear and an innovative crawl function designed to make maneuvering in tight situations easier.

Deceleration is provided by a high-quality braking system from Brembo. At the front, a 4-piston monoblock radial caliper acts on a 320 mm disc, while a 220 mm brake disc is used at the rear. Depending on preference, the rear wheel can be braked using a classic foot brake lever or a hand brake lever on the handlebars.

Wheels, tires, and equipment

The Supermoto model rolls on 17-inch wire spoke wheels with tubeless-compatible on-road tires. There are various tire models to choose from, including Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV, Dunlop SportSmart TT, Michelin Road 6, and Anlas Winter Grip Plus. The sizes are 120/70-17 at the front and 140/70-17 at the rear.

The equipment includes flexible turn signals made of durable silicone, a 4,000-lumen LED headlight, and an integrated license plate holder with a robust design. The cockpit features the removable “Arkenstone” display, a waterproof Android smartphone that serves as the control center for all riding and motorcycle settings as well as a navigation device. Over-the-air updates are also supported.

Driver’s license and legal classification

The Stark Varg SM is approved in the EU, and specifically in Germany, as a light motorcycle up to 125 cc or 11 kW (15 hp) and can be driven with an A1 driver’s license from the age of 16 and with the B196 car extension. Despite its formal classification as a “125,” the electric supermoto in the Alpha version achieves 60 kW (80 hp) and a top speed of 154 km/h.

Prices, availability, and outlook

Prices for the Stark Varg SM start at €12,990 (around $13,700) for the standard version with 44 kW (60 hp) and €13,990 (around $14,800) for the Alpha with 60 kW (80 hp). Delivery is scheduled to begin in October 2025. The SM expands Stark Future’s portfolio, which, in addition to enduro and motocross bikes, will soon include a travel enduro (Stark Älg) and a sporty road bike (Stark Lo).

Conclusion

With the Varg SM, Stark Future is breaking new ground in the field of street-legal supermotos. The combination of low weight, high performance, and modern features makes the electric supermoto an exciting model for city, short-distance, and circuit riding. The technical implementation shows how consistently electric drives are evolving in the motorcycle segment—with advantages in performance and ease of maintenance.
