Because of the Corona crisis and the resulting cancellation for 2020, the event ran into considerable financial difficulties. The 2021 race was also in danger.

The North West 200 has now received a £ 60,000 injection from the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council. This means that the road racing event can still be held.
It is still unclear whether Cookstown 100 will take place in September.
