Moto3 rider Noah Dettwiler out of danger after serious accident

After days of great concern, there is finally some positive news regarding the health of Swiss Moto3 rider Noah Dettwiler. Three days after his serious accident at the Sepang International Circuit, it has been officially confirmed that Dettwiler is no longer in critical condition and his condition has stabilized. The CIP Green Power Team, his family, and management issued a joint statement: “According to the doctors, Noah's condition is now stable and no longer critical. He will continue to be closely monitored in the intensive care unit.”

Serious injuries for Dettwiler

Dettwiler was involved in a serious rear-end collision during the sighting lap shortly before the start of the Moto3 race in Sepang. Jose Antonio Rueda, reigning Moto3 world champion, crashed into the Swiss rider at high speed. Emergency services at the scene responded immediately and provided medical assistance before both riders were flown to hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

According to official reports, 20-year-old Dettwiler, who comes from near Basel, suffered multiple cardiac arrests, brain trauma, an open fracture to his leg with significant blood loss, and injuries to his spleen and lungs. No definitive information is available yet on the overall severity of his injuries and possible long-term consequences.

Jose Antonio Rueda also on the road to recovery

Jose Antonio Rueda also sustained injuries. The Spaniard suffered a mild traumatic brain injury, chest trauma, and a fracture to his right hand. According to the latest information, Rueda has been transferred to a private hospital, where his lung injuries in particular are being monitored. According to the Red Bull KTM Ajo team, his condition is improving steadily, so he is expected to return to Spain shortly for further treatment and a planned operation on his hand.

Criticism of race procedure and lack of warm-up

In the aftermath of the accident, criticism of the organization of the Moto3 race was voiced from various quarters. In particular, experts criticized the fact that the race was started even though there was little information available about the health of the riders who had crashed. Observers are also calling for the reintroduction of warm-ups for the smaller classes. There are indications that Dettwiler’s motorcycle already had a technical problem during the formation lap, which caused him to slow down significantly when exiting turn 3. A warm-up might have revealed this problem earlier.

Conclusion: Cautious optimism, further developments still uncertain

Although the situation remains tense and it is not yet possible to give the all-clear, the stabilization of Noah Dettwiler’s condition has brought relief to the paddock and everyone involved. The motorsport community continues to offer its best wishes for his recovery and support. According to the team and family, information about further developments and possible long-term consequences will be provided in due course.
