Advanced 8K 360° technology in a compact format
The X4 Air is the lightest 8K 360° camera in the Insta360 range to date. With two 1/1.8-inch sensors and advanced image processing, it enables detailed 8K recordings and natural color reproduction. According to the manufacturer, the larger pixel area compared to the previous X4 model provides 134% improved image detail. AdaptiveTone, the company’s proprietary intelligent exposure algorithm, balances brightness and colors across the entire 360° image by analyzing the light from both lenses separately. Active HDR with up to 8K at 30 frames per second (fps) expands the dynamic range for realistic light and shadow areas, while portrait mode automatically recognizes faces and adjusts skin tones. Even in the dark, optimized algorithms and improved noise reduction ensure clear and detailed images.
Improved robustness and flexible application options
The X4 Air is not only compact, but also robustly designed. It features interchangeable lenses with a particularly durable optical coating. These are said to be twice as drop-resistant as the X4. Damaged lenses can be replaced in a matter of seconds. An optional lens protector can also be attached to prevent glare. The camera is waterproof to a depth of 15 meters and offers reliable image stabilization for almost any adventure with Insta360’s FlowState stabilization and 360° horizon lock.
Everyday usability meets professional features
Although the X5 is still considered the top model, the X4 Air integrates many of its features into a particularly handy housing. Both models offer 8K 30 fps 360° video, interchangeable lenses, and an integrated windshield, among other features. However, the X4 Air’s lightweight 165 g housing focuses on movement and comfort. Compatibility with X5 accessories allows for even more versatile use.
Easy handling for creative shots
The X4 Air is designed for maximum simplicity. With the “Turn to Record” mode, you can start or stop recording by turning the selfie stick. Gesture control and voice commands allow you to operate the camera from a distance or when your hands are full. This gives you full creative control – whether you’re playing sports, traveling, or going about your everyday life.
Smart editing and seamless sharing
In the past, 360° shots required time-consuming post-processing. The Insta360 X4 Air relies on AI-powered editing features: with the Insta360 app, shots are automatically edited in minutes using Auto Edit, FlashCut, and AI Frame. The app recognizes highlights, applies transitions, and synchronizes the footage with music. Through integration with brands such as Apple, Garmin, and HUAWEI, the X4 Air can synchronize position, movement, and performance data directly with the video recordings. For example, overlays for speed, location, or heart rate can be displayed. Users can thus enrich their activities with additional information and present the videos later with comprehensive data.
The Insta360+ cloud service allows recordings to be automatically backed up and edited across platforms. Interactive 360° playback makes it possible to experience content together. For a limited time, the purchase of an X4 Air includes a one-year subscription to Insta360+ with 200 GB of storage.

The Insta360 X4 Air is designed to offer a balanced mix of ease of use for beginners and extensive features for advanced users. According to the manufacturer, it is suitable for a wide target group – from travelers and athletes to vloggers and parents.
