At CES 2020 in January 2020, Honda will present the “Smartphone as Brain” system developed together with Drivemode.
The system is designed to connect the driver’s smartphone to the motorcycle or car and thus enables various functions that we already know from other services. It should shows a navigation started on the mobile phone on the display of the motorcycle or car, send a real-time calculated arrival time to contacts, start calls and enable listening or dictation of text messages.
A published video also mentions that the system could also be used to report road hazards (e.g. potholes). To do this, one have to mark a corresponding position manually via the app. This way, other drivers can also be warned.
It is questionable whether so many users will do this in practice, since this would also mean interrupting their journey. However, other developers are already working on an automatic detection of road damage via the activated camera. Maybe the system will be expanded accordingly later.
