On social media, Honda announces the CB100 EX and RS Final Edition.
On Twitter, Honda Japan posted two pictures. One shows a CB1100 being pushed out of the garage, while the second shows a close-up of the cooling fins on the cylinder head. The text of the tweet reads: “CB1100 EX Final Edition. CB1100 RS Final Edition. Coming soon.”
Joy and sorrow
This teaser may well be viewed with both a laughing and a crying eye, because in addition to a new CB1100, it is also likely to spell the end for the air-cooled four-cylinder, as it has not been updated for Euro5 either. After 11 years in production, it will likely be discontinued.
Special models?
It’s safe to assume that both models will be special editions that haven’t undergone any major technical revisions. Presumably they will want to convince with a few special add-on parts and a special paint job. It is also questionable whether they will still be offered on the European market, since Euro4 models may only be registered until the end of the year at the latest (initial registration).
