Defective surface coating may reduce grip
The reason for the recall is a manufacturing defect. According to the manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI), a thin layer of rubber compound was discovered on the tread of some tires. This layer can significantly impair road grip. The official description states:
“The tire may have a thin layer of rubber compound on the tread. This condition may reduce traction and increase the risk of motorcycle accidents and injuries.”
The defective coating poses an increased risk of accidents, especially when driving aggressively or in wet conditions.
