As the Court of Arbitration for Sports has announced, the court will not rule on the two appeals in the Andrea Iannone case until mid-November. Iannone was sentenced to an 18-month suspension by the FIM’s International Disciplinary Court for a positive doping test.
There are two appeals, which were heard on October 15. Andrea Iannone wants to be acquitted of the charges and affirms his innocence. On the other hand, the World Anti-Doping Agency is not satisfied with the 18-month suspension, they demand the obligatory four-year suspension, which should be due according to the WADA code, which was also signed by the FIM.
The court wants to make a decision now in mid-November. This would mean that if Iannone is acquitted, Portimao and Valencia could possibly compete.
