Inspired by factory sport: Technology of the M 1000 RR as a basis
The Concept RR is closely based on the current BMW factory superbike M 1000 RR – the motorcycle with which Toprak Razgatlıoğlu dominated the FIM Superbike World Championship last year. The water-cooled four-cylinder in-line engine from the M 1000 RR also serves as the heart of the Concept RR. With an output of over 230 hp (169 kW), the drive promises race-level performance – a clear statement in the competition for road-legal superbikes.
State-of-the-art electronics are used: engine management, traction control and engine braking come directly from motorsport. These systems enable precise adaptation to different operating conditions – whether on the race track or in sporty road use.
High-tech lightweight construction: carbon, aluminum and maximum efficiency
The developers focused on consistent lightweight construction – achieved through a combination of carbon and aluminum as well as state-of-the-art production methods. Every component of the Concept RR has been optimized for maximum performance and minimum weight. An eye-catching feature is the filigree aluminum rear end, which not only stands out with its reduced design language, but also with an illuminated RR symbol and stamped lettering.
Particular attention was paid to the aerodynamics. The aim here was to combine seemingly contradictory goals: high driving stability at top speed, maximum cornering speeds and minimal air resistance. The result is an ultra-compact aero package with flow-through body components, integrated winglets and a monolithic rear end, which also contributes to airflow.
Consistent implementation for racetrack use
The aggressive design language not only follows aesthetic principles, but also underlines the uncompromising functionality. Reduced add-on parts, clearly defined lines and aerodynamic fairing elements ensure stability at high speeds. The braking system is also designed for high performance – in the spirit of an uncompromising super sports bike.
With this presentation, BMW Motorrad is not only emphasizing its claim to technological leadership, but also its deep roots in motorsport. At the same time, the Concept RR signals where the journey in the superbike segment could lead – with uncompromising technology, consistent lightweight construction and aesthetics designed to make speed perceptible even when stationary.
