The final round of the 2023 World Superbike Championship, which was supposed to be held at Argentina's Circuit de San Juan Villicum, will now not take place.  Instead, they are in the process of finding an alternative venue for the end of the season, which will be communicated soon.

Political transitions as cause of cancellation

The reason for the cancellation of the final race of the season on the Argentine track is the current political situation in the country.  A change of government is imminent in the province of San Juan, which would fall during the period of the planned race.  In addition, nationwide and provincial elections are scheduled, which have a significant impact on the day-to-day situation of residents and businesses.

In order to take into account these political circumstances and the resulting complex daily life, the organizers of the event have decided to postpone the race (locally).  The Dorna WSBK Organization, the Grupo OSD and the Government of San Juan, in joint agreement, have decided to suspend the event at the San Juan Villicum circuit.

New plans for the final of the World Championship

Plans for the new final are still underway.  The race track and the exact date will be announced shortly, as soon as the organizers have made a decision.  With this step, the organizers want to support the new government of San Juan and respect the political transition.  This also leaves enough time for adequate preparation of an event of this magnitude.
