In qualifying, the Suzuki driver suffered a small fracture after a crash and pulled his right shoulder out. A start at the race in Jerez is unlikely.
Rins had to compete in Q1 to qualify for Q2. Here he already fell, but remained unharmed and thanks to his best time in Q2 was able to drive for the first twelve places. Shortly before qualifying (Q2) ended, Rins crashed into turn 11.
He was able to get up right after the crash and walk away on his own, but already had to hold his right arm. A dislocated shoulder and a small fracture were found in the medical center. The shoulder was lowered again. For safety’s sake, however, he was still taken to a hospital in Jerez. The doctors think it is unlikely that Alex Rins can compete in the race.
Suzuki announced that they would like to wait the night and decide tomorrow morning whether a start is possible. Rins had qualified for the ninth place on the grid.
