Hero MotoCorp is one of India’s leading motorcycle manufacturers and would like to add a line of electric motorcycles to its product range in the future, which will be developed in Munich.
Hero’s technical center in Munich works closely with the research and development facility in Jaipur, Rajastahan.
Performance-oriented electric motorcycles planned
The designation e.US stands for Electric Ultra Sport. Performance-oriented characteristics, different power classes and a range of adjustment options for different applications are what they want to combine in electric motorcycles for the Indian market. In order to keep prices low, the new platform will be manufactured in India, but will use components from the European supplier.
Hero MotoCorp would like to say goodbye to the image of a “low-cost manufacturer” of traditional gasoline motorcycles with this line and position itself better as a premium manufacturer of electric motorcycles. Therefore, the new line should be more of a premium level, even though the costs should be kept as low as possible in order to remain competitive.
What exactly Hero’s plans look like is not yet known. However, since a performance-oriented platform is planned, the performance, range, as well as the suspension and braking elements are likely to play an important role. Ultra Sport points to a radical sports motorcycle.
