After a short but intensive partnership with KTM, MV Agusta is once again standing on its own two feet. The traditional Italian motorcycle brand, known for its exclusive super sports bikes and unmistakable design, has now been fully transferred back into the hands of the Sardarov family following the majority takeover by Austrian company Pierer Mobility AG in 2024. In the wake of the economic turbulence surrounding KTM - including the threat of bankruptcy, which was averted by the Indian Bajaj Group - MV Agusta is now drawing the consequences and focusing on a self-determined new start.
After half a century, it's over: British motorcycle brand CCM Motorcycles has filed for insolvency. The Bolton-based company, which was founded in 1971 by motocross rider and engineer Alan Clews under the name Clews Competition Machines, was known for its lightweight, hand-built motorcycles with an unmistakable character. Despite a loyal fan base and a long list of individual models, the traditional brand was no longer able to survive economically.
Michael Dunlop remains the dominant force in the Supersport class at the Tourist Trophy. At this year's Monster Energy Supersport race on Wednesday, the Northern Irishman secured his eighth consecutive Supersport victory - and his 32nd overall TT win. With an impressive performance on the Milwaukee/MD Racing Ducati, he clearly relegated Dean Harrison (Honda Racing) and Davey Todd (myCOOLMAN by Padgett's Motorcycles Honda) to second place.
A new chapter in the long history of the Tourist Trophy was written on Tuesday evening on the Isle of Man: Michael Dunlop secured his 31st TT victory in the Metzeler Supertwin race, not only overtaking his own record, but also setting a new benchmark in TT history. With now 48 podium finishes, he replaces John McGuinness (MBE) as the rider with the most TT podiums - McGuinness previously held the record with 47.
