Technical concept: modern design and innovative details
The EV Fun Concept provided a first glimpse of the technical design of the new electric Honda. Notable features include an aluminum frame, a centrally integrated electric motor, a single-sided swing arm, and a toothed belt drive. The battery is also to be integrated into the frame structure, which should save weight and increase rigidity. The single-sided swing arm – presumably taken from the Honda CB 1000 R – enables quick wheel changes and offers maintenance advantages.
Honda is apparently sticking with the concept of a toothed belt drive. A coaxial arrangement of the motor shaft and swing arm bearing keeps the belt tension constant during compression and rebound. This should ensure smooth running and low maintenance, as has been the case for years with other models with timing belts.
Performance and range: classification in the mid-range
Honda classifies the new electric motorcycle in the 750cc performance class, but peak performance is not expected to be on par with a CB 750 Hornet. The production model is expected to have a peak power output of around 70 hp (51.5 kW), with a continuous power output of up to 35 kW (48 hp) – this would correspond to the maximum power output permitted for the A2 class. Experience shows that the torque of an electric motor is significantly higher than that of comparable combustion engines in this segment, but Honda has not yet provided any specific figures. A range of more than 100 kilometers is currently being discussed. This information remains unconfirmed for the time being.
Charging infrastructure and operation: Fast charging thanks to CCS2
Honda is equipping the production model with the CCS2 fast charging system, which is also widely used in the automotive sector. This could enable rapid charging, as is already common with Honda’s electric cars. The charging time from 10 to 80 percent is around 20 minutes for some car models – the final production model will show to what extent this can be transferred to the motorcycle.
The teaser video also showed a large TFT display. Other details such as wide daytime running lights (DRL), clip-on handlebar mirrors, and a slightly sporty seating position suggest that the design will remain close to the concept bike.
Market launch and prospects
The market launch of Honda’s first large electric motorcycle is still planned for 2025. The model will initially be aimed at international markets. A market launch in India is not planned given the current demand for powerful electric motorcycles and the price structure. Honda is thus clearly positioning itself in the mid to upper market segment, comparable to current mid-range combustion engine models.
Visually, the production model closely resembles the EV Fun Concept. The lines at the front and tank are somewhat reminiscent of the Livewire S2 series. The rear will apparently remain a secret until the official launch on September 2, 2025.

The combination of modern technology, practical range, fast charging capability, and proven components such as the single-sided swing arm promises an exciting alternative to established mid-range bikes with combustion engines.
