Semi-automatic clutch: shifting without a clutch
Probably the most exciting innovation on the Benda Rock 707 is the automated clutch system. This is not a fully automatic transmission, but an electronic clutch assistance system – similar to Honda’s “E-Clutch” system. An electric actuator unit on the clutch side operates the clutch so that the driver can dispense with the clutch lever play in many situations.
This means that starting off, shifting up, downshifting and stopping work without a manual clutch – but if you still want to intervene yourself, you can continue to use the clutch and gearshift. This technology is clearly aimed at a target group that has previously ridden twist-and-go scooters or electric bikes and now wants to switch to a motorcycle that can be shifted without having to learn the entire clutch operation.
Air suspension like in the automotive sector
Another highlight is the air suspension at the rear. Air suspension is rare in motorcycle construction, especially in the cruiser segment. In the Rock 707, Benda uses adaptive air suspension with several air chambers which, according to the manufacturer, adapt intelligently to the riding situation. The system apparently reads the road conditions and riding style and adjusts the air pressure in real time to maximize comfort and safety.
Although there is no information about corresponding technology at the front, it is assumed that the air suspension is limited to the rear double strut.
Technological leap from China
The Rock 707 marks a further step in Benda’s strategy of moving technologically closer to European and Japanese manufacturers. The affordable cruiser models are enjoying growing popularity, particularly in the domestic market and increasingly also in Europe. It is not yet known if and when the Rock 707 will be officially available in Europe – but given Benda’s growing export strategy, a market launch would not be surprising.
Technical highlights of the Benda Rock 707 (preliminary information):
- Clutch: Electronically assisted clutch with manual override function
- Suspension: Adaptive air suspension (rear)
- Target group: Converts from automatic scooters or electric motorcycles
- Availability: Not yet confirmed for Europe
Conclusion:
With the Rock 707, Benda shows that modern technology is also finding its way into the cruiser segment from the Far East. The combination of semi-automatic clutch and adaptive air suspension is aimed at a new generation of riders who want to combine comfort and accessibility with a classic motorcycle feel.
