Design: A modern naked bike with an unmistakable Aprilia look
The design of the Tuono 457 sets new accents in the Aprilia portfolio. It is the first Tuono model without a fixed fairing on the frame, giving it a clean, minimalist look. The characteristic LED headlight with triple light design and the compact rear ensure a striking look. The small spoiler under the headlight also pays homage to the legendary Tuono 1000 R and shows the close connection to the Aprilia heritage.
The 12-liter tank is ergonomically shaped and fits perfectly with the wide handlebars, which should ensure a dynamic riding experience. The tidy lines extend to the rear, which is also equipped with LED lighting. The centerpiece – the exposed two-cylinder engine – underlines the sporty character and the focus on lightness and performance.
Power and technology: focus on the 457 cc engine
At the heart of the Tuono 457 is the new 457 cc twin-cylinder engine, which also powers the RS 457. With 35 kW (47.6 hp) and a torque of 43.5 Nm at 6,700 rpm, the naked bike is specially tailored to the needs of A2 license holders. A large proportion of the torque – around 82% – is already available at low engine speeds, which should ensure a quick response.
Thanks to the optimized engine position and a dry weight of just 159 kg, the Tuono 457 offers an outstanding power-to-weight ratio in its class. Technical features such as a DLC coating on the piston pins and special bearings on the gearbox axles reduce internal friction and are designed to maximize efficiency. The engine is integrated into the frame as a load-bearing part, which reduces weight and increases driving dynamics.
Chassis and brakes: Agility and stability in harmony
For the Tuono 457, Aprilia relies on an aluminum frame with two lateral supports that are attached to both the steering head and the rear. The engine acts as a supporting element. This design, inspired by the 660 series, is intended to ensure high stability and low weight. The chassis was developed using CAE technology and is designed to offer an optimum balance of lightness and strength.
The chassis consists of a 41 mm upside-down fork with 120 mm travel, which can be adjusted in preload, as well as a rear shock absorber with 130 mm travel, which supports the asymmetrical steel swing arm and is also adjustable. The braking system relies on a double disc brake at the front (320 mm) and a 220 mm disc at the rear, each with ByBre brake callipers. The system is supported by a Bosch dual-channel ABS with the option of restricting the ABS to the front wheel only.
Electronic assistance systems for more safety and riding enjoyment
The Tuono 457 features advanced electronics that continue Aprilia’s tradition of innovative technologies. The ride-by-wire system enables three different riding modes: ECO, SPORT and RAIN. Depending on the mode, power, torque and traction control are adjusted to support the riding style or road conditions. The traction control can be set to three levels or switched off.
In addition, the ATC (Aprilia Traction Control) can be adjusted while riding using a switch. The ABS can also be deactivated if desired, which could be an advantage for track days. The Aprilia Quick Shift (AQS) is available as an option, which enables fast gear changes without a clutch.
Color variants and accessories
The Tuono 457 is available in the colors Piranha Red (black-red) and Puma Gray (gray-white). Aprilia offers a wide range of accessories, including a single seat cover, CNC-machined levers and footrests as well as a two-way adjustable gearshift and optional comfort saddles. Side and tank bags are also available for longer tours.
Clothing line in collaboration with Alpinestars
Aprilia is also presenting an exclusive clothing line developed in collaboration with Alpinestars. The collection includes the Overtake full-face helmet with optimized aerodynamics, the lightweight Speed Blast Air Tex jacket with good ventilation and technical jeans called Burnout Denim for a stylish appearance. The clothing is specially tailored to the requirements of young riders and offers a successful combination of functionality and comfort.
