In a striking move, Yamaha of Japan and CFMoto of China have formed a joint venture to produce and sell motorcycles in China.  This partnership has led to the establishment of Zhuzhou CF Yamaha Motor Company (ZCYM).

Partnership change:

Yamaha, an established company in the motorcycle industry, has parted ways with its long-time partner Jianshe to work with CFMoto.  This decision marks the end of over thirty years of partnership and the beginning of a new era with CFMoto.

Background of CFMoto:

CFMoto has proven its capabilities in motorcycle manufacturing in the past by partnering with KTM and producing models such as the 800 MT and 800 NK.  This expertise could be beneficial to Yamaha, especially in the production of larger capacity engines.

Structure of the joint venture:

The new company, Zhuzhou CF Yamaha Motor Company, will be based in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province, and is expected to be operational from November 2023.  CFMoto will hold the majority 50 percent stake, Yamaha will own 44.23 percent, and the remaining 5.77 percent will be held by TAIR YEA LIMITED of Hong Kong.

Future prospects:

As of yet, there have been no concrete announcements regarding the joint venture’s projects, but the collaboration leaves room for speculation and expectation.  The combination of CFMoto’s experience and Yamaha’s reputation could lead to the development of new motorcycle models.

Conclusion:

The establishment of Zhuzhou CF Yamaha Motor Company by Yamaha and CFMoto represents an interesting development step in the motorcycle industry.  This partnership has the potential to impact motorcycle production and sales.  It will be interesting to see what developments and innovations will come out of this collaboration.
