Top-class production with Hollywood cast
Well-known producers are behind the ambitious project: Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt and their production companies Free Association and Plan B, together with Entertainment 360. The feature film will be directed by Reid Carolin, who also wrote the screenplay together with Jason Keller (“Le Mans 66 – Against All Odds”) and Bryan Johnson. Channing Tatum is also set to take on a leading role.
A lavishly produced documentary series with four 45-minute episodes is being produced in parallel. It was filmed during the Tourist Trophy 2024 and offers exclusive insights behind the scenes of the event – with a focus on the riders, the organization team and the intensive preparation. Authenticity and closeness are at the heart of the series, which deliberately seeks an emotional approach.
Box to Box Films brings TT drama to series format
The documentary series is produced by the same team as the film, complemented by the renowned production company Box to Box Films – known for successful formats such as Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Full Swing and Tour de France: Unchained. The European studio Mediawan and Entourage Ventures are also on board.
The aim is to show not only the race itself, but above all the human side of the Tourist Trophy: What drives riders to expose themselves to this danger? What role do family, team and tradition play? The series also sheds light on the psychological and physical consequences of the race – for the riders as well as for those around them.
The TT in transition: from island to global phenomenon
The Isle of Man TT looks back on over 100 years of history and is considered the oldest continuously held motorsport event in the world. While motorcycle racing series such as MotoGP, WSBK or Formula 1 take place on circuits, the TT remains unique: it is driven on closed country roads, often at speeds in excess of 300 km/h (approx. 186 mph). It is a pure test of courage, machine control and mental strength.
It was not until 2022 that a live streaming service was launched, TT+, which broadcasts all training sessions and races in full length. Since then, global interest has grown significantly: online searches for the Tourist Trophy have doubled in just two years.
The next stage of evolution
With the worldwide release of the film and documentary series, the TT is now about to enter a new chapter. Paul Phillips, Head of Motorsport at the Isle of Man Department for Enterprise, commented:
“The impact on the TT cannot be overstated. We are taking the event to a real world stage and entering the next phase of our digital strategy. It’s a testament to the allure of the race and its uniqueness that we are working with partners of such caliber.”
Conclusion
The combination of Hollywood storytelling and real motorsport promises to add a new dimension to the perception of the Isle of Man TT. With the involvement of world-famous film stars and producers, the Tourist Trophy could soon become known to a much wider audience – without losing its raw, uncompromising character.
