Triumph Motorcycles has recently announced its riders for next year’s inaugural motocross season.  This announcement marks Triumph’s ambitious entry into the world of motocross racing.

Rider line-up for the MX2 World Championship

Mikkel Haarup and Camden McLellan will line up for the Monster Energy Triumph Racing team.  Both riders will compete on Triumph’s new 250cc machines in the MX2 World Championship, a prestigious event in motocross racing.

Mikkel Haarup, a 22-year-old Dane, has already made a name for himself on the motocross scene.  In 2022, he finished seventh in the overall standings, a remarkable achievement in this highly competitive environment.  Although his success has waned somewhat this year, Haarup remains a rider with great potential.

Camden McLellan, a 19-year-old South African, has also shown impressive skills.  He finished fourth in the European Championships last year.  Despite an injury interruption in this year’s MX2 season, McLellan finished in a respectable 13th place.

Team location and Triumph’s future plans

The team is based in the Netherlands, which gives Triumph a strategic position in Europe.  Triumph has also announced plans for the future: The year after next, the company intends to also compete in the MXGP class with larger machines.  This move would further strengthen Triumph’s presence in professional motocross racing and establish the brand in new segments.

Summary

With the line-up of Mikkel Haarup and Camden McLellan for the MX2 World Championship and plans for participation in the MXGP class, Triumph is signaling serious intentions to establish itself in motocross racing.  Entering this dynamic and challenging sport is a bold move for Triumph and will undoubtedly be followed with interest by motorsport enthusiasts worldwide.
