Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel 2 1

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel: A tribute to innovation and tradition

With the V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel, Moto Guzzi presents a special model that bridges the gap between technical innovation and classic brand DNA. This edition marks the 70th anniversary of the company's own wind tunnel in Mandello del Lario, Italy, a true icon in motorcycle history. Since 1954, the aerodynamics and technology of motorcycles have been refined there – long before modern CFD analyses became commonplace in the industry.

More Information

The wind tunnel as a milestone in motorcycle development

In 1954, Moto Guzzi became the first motorcycle manufacturer in the world to put its own wind tunnel into operation. At the time, this was a pioneering step that continues to have an impact today. Icons such as the legendary Otto Cilindri, better known as the Moto Guzzi V8, benefited from the advanced testing conditions. To this day, the facility is used not only for motorcycles, but also as a test environment for the Italian bobsleigh team, for example.

The special model: more than just new colors

The V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel stands out at first glance with its exclusive paint job. A bold red that extends to the rear, black rims, and elegant gold accents give it a distinctive look. Discreet wind tunnel symbols and the lettering “1954” on the active wind flaps emphasize its connection to history.
Technically, the Wind Tunnel is based on the V100 Mandello S and features the same top-of-the-line equipment. This means: semi-active suspension from Öhlins, a modern radar system at the rear, cornering ABS, six-axis IMU, and adaptive aerodynamics. The latter is a real innovation: the wind deflectors on the fairing actively adapt to the speed, ensuring greater comfort and stability.

Engine and chassis: modern technology, classic character

At the heart of the bike is the water-cooled V2 engine with a longitudinally mounted crankshaft. With a displacement of 1,042 cm³, the engine delivers 115 hp (84.6 kW) at 8,700 rpm and 105 Nm of torque. These figures correspond to 113.4 hp (84.6 kW) and 77.4 lb-ft (105 Nm). Power is transmitted in true style via a cardan drive, which not only ensures low maintenance but also a particularly harmonious driving experience.

Features and price: Exclusive, but not limited

Despite its exclusivity, the Wind Tunnel is not a strictly limited edition. Moto Guzzi has deliberately opted for an open special model, which is identical in price to the V100 Mandello S: €18,999, which is equivalent to approximately $20,400. This gives you all the highlights of the S version – complemented by a striking look and collector’s value for fans of the brand.

Conclusion: A modern statement with roots in history

With the V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel, Moto Guzzi shows how a traditional manufacturer can reinvent itself without losing sight of its roots. The special model is not only a visual highlight, but also testifies to genuine engineering skill and the willingness to confidently continue its own history.
