The last KTM superbike, the RC8, was discontinued in 2016 because KTM felt sportbikes with more than 200 horsepower didn’t belong on the street. Meanwhile, the RC 390 is the only full fairing sportbike KTM has in its lineup. Now an RC 890 has been spotted, but it is only intended for the racetrack.
The KTM race track bike is powered by an 890cc two-cylinder. Performance data are not known. It is a prototype. A striking feature is the trellis frame, which was not painted in the typical orange. It was decided to use a green color. The fairing itself was designed in a plain gray. The tank is located at the rear of the machine.
What KTM plans to do with the prototype is not yet known. However, KTM has already denied a MotoGP replica.
