Honda NT1100 & NT1100 DCT Electronic Suspension: Model year 2026 – The touring bike with modern technology and versatile features

With the NT1100, Honda has had a touring bike in its range since 2022 that specifically meets the needs of those for whom classic adventure bikes often seem too big or too rugged. The NT1100 combines long-distance comfort, sophisticated weather protection, and modern technology. Targeted model updates were implemented in the 2025 model year. For 2026, the NT1100 remains largely unchanged technically, but gets a new color option to further refresh its visual appearance.

The vehicle is available with both a classic six-speed manual transmission and the popular dual-clutch transmission (DCT) variant. In addition, there is the NT1100 DCT Electronic Suspension, equipped with electronically controlled Showa EERATM suspension. All model versions feature extensive standard equipment and numerous electronic driving aids.

Engine and drive: efficiency meets performance

At the heart of the NT1100 is a liquid-cooled parallel twin with a displacement of 1,084 cm³. The engine was technically revised in 2025, increasing maximum torque by 7 percent. It now stands at 112 Nm (Newton meters) at 5,500 rpm – equivalent to approximately 82.6 lb-ft. The peak power output remains at 75 kW (102 hp) at 7,500 rpm.

The engine technology includes an 8-valve configuration with SOHC Unicam valve train and a 270-degree crankshaft, which creates a characteristic smoothness. The compression ratio is 10.5:1. The mixture is prepared by PGM-FI fuel injection.

For the dual-clutch transmission, Honda relies on a system with two clutches, which enables fast and smooth gear changes in both automatic and manual modes. The control system is linked to the six-axis gyro sensor, which is designed to ensure even more precise gear changes, especially when cornering.

Electronics and assistance systems: Comprehensive safety and comfort features

Since 2025, the electronics have been based on a six-axis gyro sensor system. This enables functions such as three-stage HSTC traction control with wheelie control, cornering ABS, and rear wheel lift detection. Three preset riding modes (Urban, Tour, Rain) and two individually configurable user modes are available. All relevant settings are controlled via the 6.5-inch TFT touch display, which also supports Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®.

Standard equipment includes heated grips, cruise control, a center stand, self-resetting turn signals with ESS emergency brake signal function, USB and 12V ports, and generously sized side cases, each of which can accommodate a full-face helmet. The seat height is 820 mm.

Chassis: Flexibility thanks to Showa EERATM

A key feature of the NT1100 DCT Electronic Suspension is Showa’s electronically controlled suspension (EERATM). The system adjusts damping and suspension in real time to suit different riding situations. There are four modes to choose from: Urban, Tour, Rain, and User, with the rear wheel spring preload in particular being adjustable in 24 steps while riding.

The suspension consists of a steel semi-double loop frame with an aluminum rear frame. The front and rear suspension travel is 150 mm each. The braking system comprises two 310 mm discs with radially mounted four-piston calipers at the front and a single 256 mm disc at the rear.

The unladen weight is 238 kg (524.7 lbs) with a full tank for the version with manual transmission, 248 kg (546.7 lbs) with DCT, and 249 kg (549 lbs) with DCT Electronic Suspension. Add 12 kg (26.5 lbs) for the side cases.

Equipment and accessories: High everyday usability and customization

The NT1100’s equipment is extensive and practical. This includes a windshield that is adjustable to five different heights with one-hand operation, LED lighting technology including daytime running lights, spacious side cases, and ergonomically designed seats. The on-board electronics offer numerous comfort and safety features.

Two accessory packages are available for customization. The Urban package includes a 50-liter top case, an alarm system, and other comfort features for city riding. The Voyage package is aimed at long-distance riders and offers comfort seats, a tank bag, and LED fog lights, among other things. According to the manufacturer, both packages offer a 10 percent price advantage over purchasing the items individually.
