Honda CMX1100 Rebel 2026: Revised color range and proven technology

Honda is introducing the CMX1100 Rebel, the touring-oriented CMX1100T, and the customized CMX1100SE with revised color options for the 2026 model year. The model family continues to feature the high-torque 1,084 cc twin-cylinder engine, which provides a balanced mix of performance and everyday usability. In addition to the classic six-speed manual transmission, the standard and touring models are optionally available with Honda's dual-clutch transmission (DCT), while the SE version comes with DCT as standard. A comprehensive update for the 2025 model year already brought an improved driving experience and modern connectivity features. In 2026, the focus will continue to be on customization options, modern assistance systems, and comfortable ergonomics.

Model overview: Three variants for different requirements

The CMX1100 Rebel is designed for both relaxed rides and sportier tours. Its moderate weight of 226 kg (498 lbs) with manual transmission or 236 kg (520 lbs) with DCT makes it easy to handle, especially for those switching from smaller motorcycles. The low seat height of 710 mm supports a secure footing and contributes to a comfortable riding experience.

Since 2021, the CMX1100 has complemented the successful Rebel series, which previously enjoyed great popularity primarily due to the A2-compliant CMX500. The CMX1100T, which has been in the range since 2023, is aimed at riders who want to take longer trips with increased comfort. The CMX1100SE followed in 2025 as a “Special Edition” with extensive special equipment. Honda has updated the color palette for the 2026 model year. The standard Rebel is now available in Matte Beta Silver Metallic (new) and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, while the SE variant comes in Pearl Deep Mud Gray (new) and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic. The T version remains available in Iridium Gray Metallic and is now also available in Pearl Deep Mud Gray.

Design and features: Timeless bobber style meets modernity

The design of the CMX1100 Rebel comes from the US Honda studio and features a stretched, low silhouette with muscular proportions. Slim bodywork and a curved 13.6-liter fuel tank create a classic bobber look, complemented by modern details such as LED lighting and a 5-inch TFT color display. The steel fenders and distinctive round headlight with four LED lenses underscore the mix of tradition and modernity.

The 5-inch TFT display features optical bonding technology for better readability in sunlight. Riders can choose between three display designs. Honda RoadSync connectivity allows Android or iOS smartphones to be used for navigation, telephony, and more – controlled via a four-way switch on the handlebars. A Bluetooth-paired smartphone and a helmet headset are required.

The seat offers comfort and support, even during heavy acceleration. The passenger seat cushion can be quickly removed for passengers. A 3-liter storage compartment is located under the seat. Cruise control is standard equipment for longer journeys.

The CMX1100T touring version has a front fairing and two hard-shell cases (16 liters on the right, 19 liters on the left). These offer more storage space than the soft bags available as accessories and integrate harmoniously into the overall look.

The special edition CMX1100SE DCT comes factory-equipped with bar-end mirrors, headlight mask, bellows, and short front fender. A diamond-stitch-style seat and radiator covers round out the look.

Engine and driver assistance: powerful twin with modern electronics

The liquid-cooled 1,084 cm³ two-cylinder engine is based on the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin engine and delivers 88.4 hp (65 kW) at 7,250 rpm. The maximum torque is 98 Nm at 4,750 rpm. Modifications to the engine – such as a modified camshaft and a new flywheel – ensure smooth running and a throaty sound, especially in the lower rev range. The compression ratio has been increased to 10.5:1 to further optimize responsiveness.

Electronically controlled throttle management (Throttle by Wire) offers three standard riding modes (Standard, Sport, Rain) and two individually customizable user modes. The HSTC traction control system (Honda Selectable Torque Control) has three settings and includes wheelie control. A modern PGM-FI fuel injection system and a 7-liter airbox are part of the equipment.

Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT): Automated shifting for greater comfort

The DCT version of the CMX1100 Rebel allows automated or manual gear changes without using the clutch. Two clutch packs are controlled electronically and hydraulically, ensuring fast, uninterrupted gear changes. Different riding modes adjust the shift strategy to suit different needs. The DCT makes riding in city traffic and at low speeds particularly easy. The manual transmission remains available, but the SE variant is equipped exclusively with DCT.

Chassis, brakes, and ergonomics: relaxed handling and safety

The torsion-resistant steel tube frame, a cartridge telescopic fork (43 mm) with adjustable spring preload, and stereo shock absorbers provide the basis for balanced handling. Changes to the handlebars and seating position in the 2025 model year have further improved ergonomics. The wheelbase is 1,520 mm, the steering head angle is 30 degrees, and the trail is 110 mm.

The weight varies depending on the equipment: 226 kg (498 lbs) for the manual version, 236 kg (520 lbs) for the DCT, 240 kg (520 lbs) for the automatic version.

The SE weighs in at 237 kg (523 lbs). The 18-inch front wheel and 16-inch rear wheel are fitted with wide tires (130/70B18 at the front, 180/65B16 at the rear). Braking is provided by a 330 mm brake disc with four-piston radial caliper at the front and a 256 mm disc with single-piston caliper at the rear. ABS is standard.

Accessories: A wide range of customization options

Honda offers an extensive range of genuine accessories for the CMX1100 Rebel – from styling and comfort to travel packages. The accessory packages include handlebar end mirrors, headlight masks, comfort seats, heated grips, saddlebags, and luggage racks. Riders can thus tailor their machine to their individual needs.
