Honda CB1000F (2026): Retro naked bike with Fireblade heart and modern technology

With the new CB1000F for the 2026 model year, Honda is expanding its traditional CB series with a distinctive naked bike that is reminiscent of the iconic Bol d'Or models of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The unmistakable retro design incorporates numerous stylistic elements from that era, but combines them with the latest features and state-of-the-art technology. The CB1000F is thus in line with the successful models that once achieved high sales figures in Europe and made racing history in the US Superbike scene under Freddie Spencer.

80s styling meets contemporary functionality

The lines of the CB1000F are clearly inspired by classic models. Striking features include the round headlight, the two horns mounted below it, the eye-catching stripe decoration on the tank and side covers, and the expressive 4-2-1 megaphone-style exhaust system. The steel tube frame with extended rear frame provides additional seating space and emphasizes the visual similarity to the historic models. The modern cast aluminum rims and high-quality paint finishes in Wolf Silver Metallic (with blue or gray trim) and Graphite Black also underscore the successful balance between past and present.

Modified Fireblade engine for powerful performance

At the heart of the new CB1000F is a liquid-cooled 1,000 cm³ inline four-cylinder engine based on the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade powerplant. The DOHC engine has been specially tuned for the application profile of a naked bike. The aim was to achieve a more even power delivery, offering a powerful riding experience and strong acceleration, particularly in the lower and middle rev ranges. Key performance data:

  • Power: 91 kW (122 hp) at 9,000 rpm
  • Power in kW/hp: 91 kW / 122 hp
  • Torque: 103 Nm at 8,000 rpm

Compared to the CB1000 Hornet, whose engine is designed for maximum power at high revs, the CB1000F’s usable power has been shifted further down the rev range. The gear ratios have also been adjusted: the first two gears are shorter, while the remaining gears are longer – ensuring powerful acceleration and relaxed riding on fast country roads.

The bore and stroke are 76 x 55.1 mm, and the compression ratio is 11.7:1. The exhaust system with a special silencer has also been adapted to the new concept. The tank capacity is 16 liters, and according to Honda, the standard fuel consumption is 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers. This corresponds to a theoretical range of over 280 kilometers.

Comprehensive electronics package

Honda equips the CB1000F ex-works with a comprehensive electronics package. The basis for this is a six-axis gyro sensor system that monitors the behavior of the motorcycle in real time. The system not only controls the HSTC traction control (Honda Selectable Torque Control) and the integrated wheelie control, but also supports cornering ABS and rear wheel lift detection. The electronic throttle grip offers a choice of three preconfigured riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain) and two individually programmable user modes. The respective settings for engine power, engine braking, and traction control can be adjusted in three stages.

Modern equipment and connectivity

The cockpit features a 5-inch TFT color display with optical bonding technology, which enables glare-free readability even in direct sunlight. The display can be customized (bar, circle, or standard display). The CB1000F comes standard with Honda RoadSync connectivity, which allows you to control navigation, music, phone calls, and messages directly via the motorcycle display using your smartphone (Android or iOS). A four-way switch unit on the left handlebar is available for operation. The ignition is conveniently activated via the smart key system.

Honda relies entirely on LED technology for its lighting. The characteristic light signature of the front headlight and the rear light seamlessly integrated into the rear ensure high visibility. The rear turn signals have an emergency stop signal (ESS) function that is automatically activated in the event of heavy deceleration.

Suspension and chassis: Focus on handling

The chassis of the CB1000F is based on a lightweight steel double frame with an extended rear. The geometry (25-degree steering head angle, 98 mm trail, 1,455 mm wheelbase) is tuned for precise steering and agile handling. The fully adjustable 41 mm Showa SFF-BP upside-down fork at the front and the Showa monoshock with Pro-Link lever system at the rear offer numerous adjustment options.

The front brake system consists of radially mounted four-piston calipers and 310 mm floating discs, while a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper provides deceleration at the rear wheel. The system is monitored by cornering ABS. The cast aluminum wheels are fitted with modern radial tires in sizes 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 180/55-ZR17 at the rear. The CB1000F’s curb weight is 214 kg (approximately 472 lbs).

Sustainability and materials

As part of its commitment to the environment, Honda is increasingly focusing on the use of sustainable materials. The rear fender and seat base of the CB1000F are already made from recycled polypropylene. The raw materials used come from recycling cycles from automobiles, among other sources.

Accessories: Individual customization

Honda offers a wide range of original accessories for the CB1000F, either individually or in themed packages (Sport, Comfort, Travel). The Sport package includes a headlight cover and engine guard, the Comfort package offers a special seat and heated grips, while the Travel package includes storage solutions for longer tours. In addition to these packages, numerous individual options are available, including a center stand, radiator guard, alarm system, tank protectors, and various bags.
