The philosophy remains the same: everything that is really needed, but nothing superfluous. Ducati focuses on compact, muscular shapes, a minimalist design, and the latest technology. The focus is on a new, significantly lighter V2 engine, innovative electronics, optimized ergonomics, and numerous options for customization.
Design and ergonomics: tradition and progress combined
The appearance of the Monster 2026 deliberately references the first model, but is significantly slimmer, more compact, and sportier. Characteristic features include the LED headlight framed by the tank flanks, the unmistakable “bison back” tank design with revised air intakes, and a short, lightweight rear section. The seat height has been reduced to 815 mm (32.1 inches) and is narrower with the new seat, making it easier to reach the ground. With optional accessories, the seat height can even be lowered to 775 mm (30.5 inches).
The LED headlight in the distinctive double C design with side “cuts” not only ensures optimum visibility, but also emphasizes its affiliation with the current Ducati model family. The side panels with the Ducati emblem and the coordinates of the Borgo Panigale factory combine tradition and modernity.
New V2 engine with IVT technology: powerful and easy to maintain
At the heart of the Monster 2026 is the completely redesigned V2 twin-cylinder engine with a displacement of 890 cm³. The engine is 5.9 kg (13.0 lbs) lighter than the previous Testastretta Evoluzione engine and delivers 111 hp (81.6 kW) at 9,000 rpm – for the US market, it delivers 110.7 hp (81.4 kW). The maximum torque is 91.1 Nm at 7,250 rpm and is available at over 80% between 4,000 and 10,000 rpm.
Thanks to IVT (Intake Variable Timing) valve control, the engine combines smooth power delivery at low revs with mid-range torque and peak power at high revs. Maintenance intervals are a record-breaking 45,000 km (28,000 miles), which is set to raise the bar in this segment.
Chassis and components: Focus on agility and control
The V2 engine acts as a load-bearing element in the chassis, which consists of a monocoque frame, a double swingarm (based on the Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm of the Panigale V4) and a lightweight rear frame made of technopolymer and trellis tubing. The total weight without fuel is just 175 kg (386 lbs) – 4 kg (8.8 lbs) less than the previous model. A 43 mm upside-down fork and an adjustable Showa monoshock ensure a balanced chassis setup between comfort and sportiness.
The braking system comes from Brembo: M4.32 radial calipers grip 320 mm double discs at the front, while a radially mounted PR18/21 master cylinder combination provides support at the rear. Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires in sizes 120/70 at the front and 180/55 at the rear guarantee high driving stability and grip.
The seating position has been ergonomically optimized—higher, forward-mounted handlebars provide more control, while grippy side panels offer support when braking.
Electronics and equipment: Equipped for every situation
The Monster 2026 is equipped with a comprehensive electronics package based on a 6-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit). This includes lean-angle-sensitive ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 (DQS), Engine Brake Control (EBC), and four individually selectable riding modes (Sport, Road, Urban, Wet).
The 5-inch TFT color display (16:9, 800×400 pixels) with day/night mode provides clear information and can be controlled using a new petal-shaped joystick. The Ducati Multimedia System, turn-by-turn navigation, and cruise control are pre-installed.
Customization and accessories
Ducati offers numerous customization options for the Monster 2026, including carbon components, milled aluminum parts, and sports seats with Alcantara upholstery. For sporty riders, there are approved Termignoni sports mufflers with titanium inlay and carbon end caps (weight savings: 0.2 kg/0.44 lbs; only homologated in EU5+ countries).
Versions, colors, and market launch
The Monster 2026 will be available in Europe from February 2026, in the US from March, in Japan and Australia from April, in Thailand from June, and in China from August. It will be available in Ducati Red and Iceberg White, as well as in Monster and Monster+ versions (with passenger seat cover and windshield). Both versions are also available in a 35 kW variant for A2 license holders.
