Casey Stoner makes comeback on two wheels at MotoGP in Australia

Two-time MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner will play a special role at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island. The Australian will not only be a guest of honor, but will also be actively involved in the action – returning to a real racing motorcycle and taking a leading position in the so-called “Homecoming Ride.”

Homecoming Ride across the San Remo Bridge

On Thursday, October 16, Stoner will lead a large motorcycle parade across the San Remo Bridge in Newhaven (Victoria) to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Hundreds of motorcyclists are expected to join the convoy. Upon arrival at the racetrack, all participants will complete two laps of the famous circuit together with Stoner. For many fans, this experience is likely to be an emotional highlight of the weekend.

Racing motorcycle action on Saturday and Sunday

Another highlight: Casey Stoner will be back on the track himself during the race weekend – this time not just symbolically, but with a real racing motorcycle. It will be the first time since 2012 that he has ridden such a bike at Phillip Island. Back then, he won the Australian Grand Prix with Honda, which was also his sixth consecutive victory on his home track.

The planned rides will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Details about the bike itself or the conditions for these appearances have not yet been announced.

Recognition and review

“Phillip Island has given me some of the greatest moments of my career,” explains Stoner. “That’s why it’s so special to return with the Homecoming Ride and be honored with a lap of honor.” He also took the opportunity to thank the fans whose “passion, energy, and loyalty” had accompanied him throughout his career.

New official role at the Australian Grand Prix

Stoner was also given a new role at the Grand Prix. He will take on an official role as ambassador for the Australian Grand Prix in collaboration with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation. This will bring the former world champion back into the public spotlight of the MotoGP scene.

Track record at Phillip Island

Stoner’s record at his home track is exceptional: between 2007 and 2012, he won the Grand Prix there every year – both on Ducati and Honda. Such a winning streak at a home race is virtually unique in the history of MotoGP.

Participation in the Homecoming Ride
