The package is aimed at riders who want to combine the uncompromising style of classic flat trackers with a modern roadster. The basis for this is the R 12 nineT, which is equipped with the 1170 cm³ air/oil-cooled boxer engine familiar from the HP2 Sport. The power output is 108 hp (79 kW) at 7,000 rpm, and the maximum torque is 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
Design and components: Purist racing look
A central component of the accessory package is the short, sporty rear end, which completely dispenses with a passenger seat. The new rear end is painted in Blackstorm metallic and comes with a license plate holder (available in black or silver) and multifunctional turn signals. This element alone gives the R 12 nineT a significantly more aggressive line and emphasizes the racing origins of the model.
The cockpit fairing is also inspired by flat track style: finished in black metallic, it frames the round headlight design and provides a clearly defined transition to the new, shortened front wheel cover on the 17-inch front wheel. In combination with the side-mounted start number plates, this creates a visual similarity to classic track machines.
A sticker set with a “tracker” motif allows for additional customization. The number plate 35 shown in press photos is not included in the set. According to BMW, the number plate field offers “room for individual design – the number itself is freely chosen and attached by the customer.”
Technical basis remains unchanged
The accessory package only changes the appearance. The chassis, drive, and ergonomics of the R 12 nineT remain unchanged. The offer is therefore aimed specifically at riders who want to emphasize the classic design without interfering with the technology.
Optional extras such as wire-spoked “Option 719” wheels (at extra cost) or an alternative cockpit fairing with a windshield in 1980s superbike style and a homologated Akrapovič single silencer are available separately. It is also possible to switch from the analog twin instruments to a color TFT display as an option.
Availability and installation
The complete Tracker package has been available since August 28, 2025, and is designed exclusively for the BMW R 12 nineT. The components can be purchased individually or as a complete package.
BMW Motorrad recommends having the conversion carried out by an authorized specialist workshop – ideally a BMW Motorrad partner. All components are homologated with the vehicle, so no additional registration is necessary.
Conclusion: A visual statement for individualists
With The Tracker, BMW Motorrad offers an accessory package that transforms the R 12 nineT into a stylistically refined custom bike – in the spirit of historic flat track machines. The package remains consistently focused on design, dispenses with technical modifications, and is particularly suitable for individualists who value clean lines and authentic style.
