Near the Red Rock Canyon (Las Vegas), Miguel Duhamel was hit in the head by an air rifle projectile while cycling.
Duhamel won the AMA Pro Superbike title in 1995, and is the first Canadian to win the title and one of the most successful racers in this series. He now lives near Las Vegas and often rides his bike in the area to keep fit.
It happens more often that passing cars or cars in front of him hurl stones and he is hit by them. In this case it was a little different. Duhamel heard an approaching vehicle and suddenly a shot. Someone must have deliberately shot him.
The air rifle projectile damaged his bike helmet, but bounced off his skull and caused a bleeding wound on the back of his head.
The culprit has not yet been caught.
