With the Low Rider S Harley wants to offer a classic character strength, agile handling and plenty of power. The chassis comes from the Softail range and has been optimized with high quality suspension components.
Harley-Davidson Low Rider S
In the foreground was a dynamic driving style, which harmonises with the powerful performance of the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine. A high handlebar, close-cut headlight trim and black finish on many surfaces wants to give a Coastal Custom look.

“The look of the new Low Rider S is rooted in the low-rider models of the 1980s, whose fan base has long since spread from its origins in southern California all over the world. Add to that the influence of the 2016 Low Rider S from the Dyna range, of course, “said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Styling & Design. “Now we have transferred this Coastal style as well as the direction to performance to the Softail chassis and created a new Low Rider S. It is stronger and more manageable than ever – and at the same time the perfect bike for individualists.”

Hard Edge – Coastal-Look
One of the most striking style features of the Coastal Custom look is the high handlebar. The Low Rider S has a one-inch handlebar in off-road style on straight four-inch high risers. He ensures a dynamic driving seat position.
The solo seat has been contoured to provide the rider with a secure grip even during high acceleration.
Instead of chrome, the Low Rider S is dominated by a friendly black. Engine, Primary Drive Cover and Tank Console are in Wrinkle Black. Gloss Black are the clutch cover, the air filter and the lower Rockerbox cover. The third black variant is Jet Black. This was used for exhaust system with heat shields. Fork with fork bridges, riser with handlebars and the fender mounts are in Matte Black.
The tank holds 18.9 liters and is decorated with a classic Harley-Davidson logo. The wheels come in 19 inches at the front and 16 inches at the rear. Matte Dark Bronze offers a contrast to the dark attachments.
The Low Rider S is available in two color options, Vivid Black and Barracuda Silver.
The Cassis
The frame construction has a classic rigid frame look, but was equipped with contemporary suspension comfort.
The emulsion strut at the rear offers a generously dimensioned suspension travel. It is equipped with a hydraulic adjustment mechanism to adapt it to road conditions and load.
At the front works a 43mm upside-down fork with Singe-Cartridge-Technik. The steering angle of the Low Rider has been reduced by 2 degrees to 28 degrees in the S version.
Braking works at the front with two 300mm brake discs. The Low Rider S comes with Michelin Scorcher 31 tires.

The Engine
The Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine (114 cui, 1868 cc capacity) is the most powerful engine for the Sorftail chassis, at least ex works. Even at 3.000 rpm 155 Nm are applied. Two balance shafts reduce the vibrations to the level required by Harley-Davidson. Four-valve cylinder heads and dual ignition ensure high efficiency and powerful performance.
