Another factor behind the decision is that the 125cc models are no longer compatible with the new OBD2B emissions regulations and will not receive a corresponding update. Instead of investing further in this area, KTM appears to be shifting its focus to larger displacements – such as the 200 Duke and 250 Duke, which are seen as better alternatives for Indian customers.
Financial difficulties and restructuring
This decision comes at a time when KTM is struggling with significant financial problems.
