The Roadhouse Macau racing team will once again be competing in the Isle of Man TT Races this year with a strong two-man line-up.  Team boss and regular rider Brian McCormack will be joined by reigning IRRC Superbike champion David Datzer.

Both riders will compete with the BMW M 1000 RR in the RST Superbike, Milwaukee Senior and RL360/PE Superstock racing classes.  They will be riding the same bike that McCormack finished in the top ten in the Superbike race in 2024.

In addition, both McCormack and Datzer will compete in the two Monster Energy Supersport TT races.  Here they will use Triumph machines that run under the Global Robots/PHR Performance banner.  McCormack will also compete in the Metzeler/Entire Cover Insurance Supertwin TT races on a Global Robots Aprilia RS660.

Experience meets fresh motivation

At the age of 41, McCormack is a permanent fixture at the TT.  Since his debut in 2010, he has already made 59 starts and established himself as a consistent top rider, particularly in the 1000cc races.  He has already achieved a top ten finish three times, most recently with tenth place in the 2024 RST Superbike race. In total, McCormack has achieved 14 top 15 finishes and earned 41 replicas in 44 finishes.  His fastest lap to date, with an average speed of 128.812 mph (approx. 207.4 km/h), came in the 2019 Senior TT. For 2025, he has set himself the goal of surpassing this figure and finishing further up the results lists.

For David Datzer, the commitment to the Roadhouse Macau Team is a great opportunity.  The German had to contend with setbacks at the TT 2024: a crash in the first Supertwin race on the 11th Milestone had a significant impact on the rest of his race.  He also lacked competitive equipment in the 1000cc classes, which meant he was only able to complete one race lap.

Nevertheless, things went extremely well for him on the European street circuits last season.  With podium finishes in eight of eleven IRRC races, including victories in Hengelo, Schleiz, Imatra, Horice and Frohburg, he secured his first title with a five-point lead over Lukas Maurer.  These successes should provide him with a solid basis for his future TT appearances.  Back on a BMW, on which he feels particularly comfortable, the two-time Macau Grand Prix podium rider wants to build on his performances from 2022 and 2023, when he achieved two top 20 finishes and drove his fastest TT laps at almost 127 mph (approx. 204.3 km/h).

Intensive preparation for the 2025 TT

The team has already completed a two-day test in Jerez, Spain, to optimally prepare for the TT season.  Further tests are planned in Almeria, Andalusia and Valencia.

Team boss and rider Brian McCormack explained: “David and I had a conversation some time ago.  I’ve always wanted to bring a second rider into the team and expand it, so we quickly put that in place.  We ran Davo (Johnson) in the Supersport class for a short time last year and David has already found his feet on the Global Robots/PHR Performance Triumph.  This will allow him to do many more laps at the TT 2025.  He’s never really had a good team structure around him before, so we can give him a lot of knowledge and experience.  With the right environment and good people, this will be a big advantage for him.  Together with his BMW bikes, we are confident that he will have a successful TT 2025.”

McCormack also looks back on a challenging 2024 season, which was characterized by injuries: “Last year was tough because I still had to recover from my injuries in Macau.  After the operations on my ankle and knee, I had less testing time than usual.  My lap times weren’t as high, but I still got another top ten result in the Superbike race and finished all my other races.  It was a solid week.  I hope it goes better this year.  I’m probably fitter than ever and have had more track practice than any other season.  I now feel very comfortable on the Mountain Course and we are investing a lot in the TT 2025, so I am confident that it will be a good year.”

David Datzer is also optimistic about the collaboration: “For me, a team structure like Roadhouse Macau is a dream!  Brian and I have known each other for years from the paddock on the Isle of Man, and after we got to know each other better in Jerez, we had a lot of fun.  I’m really looking forward to the season.  It was good to do my first laps on the Triumph Daytona 765 – a great bike.  I’m also bringing my own Datziii #55 Racing by TW-3 Racing BMWs to the team.  Jerez was perfect preparation and the TT 2025 has already started for me!”
